KEEP KITS BEACH WILD
This Facebook group was started in the summer of 2012 by long time Kitsilano resident and filmmaker Elvira Lount to stop the Vancouver Park Board from extending the seawall from Kitsilano Yacht Club along the wild quiet part of Kits beach to Jericho - the "Point Grey Foreshore", one of the last natural beaches in Vancouver. So far we have been successful in our efforts to stop the seawall but we must remain forever vigilant.

The mandate of the group has expanded to include the protection of all of Kits Beach from Jericho to Vanier Park. In October 2014 the group joined in the efforts of SAVE KITS BEACH and the HADDEN PARK DEFENCE LEAGUE to stop the construction of a 12 ft paved bike path through the middle of Kits Beach and Hadden Parks, rendering the little remaining green space in those parks unusable as a playground, family picnic area and space for quiet contemplation. After months of protest and the filing of a lawsuit in regards to Hadden Park, the Park Board finally backed off this ill conceived plan and on February 17, 2014 announced that they would not be pursuing the bike lane through Kits Beach and Hadden Parks. Once again we must remain vigilant.
