Producer Elvira Lount and producer/writer/director Laurence Keane are partners in Utopia Pictures based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Keane also works as a story editor.
Utopia has several features in development including THE VANCOUVER MODEL, THEM, CLOUD, TAZED, THE PATHFINDERS, WEIRDOS, THE OLD CON and TAKING STOCK 2.0.

WRITER/DIRECTOR/EXECUTIVE PRODUCER: Laurence Keane
Laurence was the director, writer and executive producer of SAMUEL LOUNT and producer, writer, editor, and song-writer of the sci-fi musical comedy BIG MEAT EATER, distributed by New Line Cinema in the US and Palace Pictures in the UK. BIG MEAT EATER was hailed as one of the best pictures of the year by British critics and has become an underground cult classic. Laurence received a Best Screenplay Genie nomination for the film. It was re-released on DVD in North America in 2005 by Koch Vision Films (now E1) and is now being distributed by Utopia Pictures. BIG MEAT EATER is now available on 2K HD BluRay and is currently playing on HOLLYWOOD SUITE HD Cable TV. SAMUEL LOUNT is available on BluRay and DVD and is also currently playing on HOLLYWOOD SUITE.
As a script analyst for Creative BC for four years, Laurence analyzed over 80 scripts. and has works with both local and international writers and producers as a story editor and analyst.
Laurence has an MFA in Film Business and Production from the University of Southern California School of Cinema in Los Angeles, a BA in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of British Columbia and is a graduate of the advanced Simon Fraser Film Workshop. He has written 15 screenplays, works as a script editor and analyst for BC Film and independent companies; produced, directed and written and edited several short comedies and documentaries, been a newspaper publisher and photographer; and edited books. He began his career in the film business in the 70s at the NFB and CBC.

Elvira produced the $2 million 35mm dramatic feature film SAMUEL LOUNT, the story of her ancestor who was one of the leaders of the Canadian Rebellion of 1837 and was hanged for treason. The film was produced in association with the CBC, premiered at the Toronto and Seattle Film Festivals and received five Genie (Canadian film award) nominations. SAMUEL LOUNT is available on BluRay and DVD and is also currently playing on HOLLYWOOD SUITE.
Elvira has produced over 50 video and film documentaries including: the award winning one hour film BABY CLOCK; the half hour video BELLY DANCING:IMAGES FROM VANCOUVER; the short film QUIET BEACH; forty-four videos for the Vancouver People's Law School on a variety of legal and social issues; and UPROOTED, about the Japanese Internment in BC during WW2. She began her career producing programs for Vancouver Co-op Radio.
Most recently she has been producing grassroots activism videos including the November 2020 1/2 hour documentary THE COVID EFFECT ON OUTDOOR NOISE. Elvira is also an avid nature photographer: @elvira Instagram and social activist and founder of KEEP KITS BEACH WILD. She is a current Board Member of the Right to Quiet Society.
Elvira graduated from the Media Resources Program at Capilano University, North Vancouver and studied Broadcast Journalism at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She has a BA in English, History and Philosophy from the Univerisity of London, England.
